Happy Harry Potter Movie day!

Movie releases are always a special time in our hearts. To mark the occasion, we want to give you a gift for being really awesome. We really appreciate all the support that you’ve given us over the years. Thanks for coming to our shows and buying our albums and stuff. Seriously. Your awesome generosity with time and money that has enabled us to keep rocking for all these years and we’re really thankful for that opportunity.

So here’s a little reward!

We’ve just released a FREE Remix EP via our new Bandcamp page.

Check out this cool tracklist:

1. Harry and the Potters & Lauren and Kate – Felix Felicis [Best Person Alive Mix]
2. Harry and the Potters & Erwin Beekveld – Phoenix Tears [Burning Day Remix]
3. Harry and the Potters & Dawlish and the Archies – Hermione Screws Up the Polyjuice Potion [Gato's Lesson Plan]
4. Harry and the Potters & Paradise Dan – Felix Felicis [Dumbledore's DS Mix]
5. Harry and the Potters & Erwin Beekveld – New Wizard Anthem [Roonil Wazlib Beat Mix]

7. Harry and the Potters & Erwin Beekveld – Felix Felicis [Eight Clockwise Stir Mix]
8. Dumbledore’s Chorus – Save Ginny Weasley [a capella]

Bandcamp is awesome because you can listen to complete versions of all of our songs and then, when you download, you can purchase the lossless version at no additional charge! Plus, all our stuff is priced a bit cheaper than iTunes. Nothing against iTunes. We love those dudes, but this is a great alternative if you want higher quality songs at better prices.

So there you go. Check it out. The remix EP is priced as “Name Your Price,” but feel free to enter in $0.00. If you want to keep supporting us, we are definitely cool with whatever you want to throw our way, or you can just explore the bandcamp page and buy some of our other releases. But don’t feel obligated. We really just wanted to give you a little treat to share the HP love. Listen to these jams on your way out to the movie tonight!

Also, if you’re awoke early, our tunes could be heard today on NPR’s Morning Edition. Andrew Slack and I were interviewed about the Harry Potter Alliance. Nothing I said made it into the final piece, but it’s still cool. You can hear us yelling about love in the background. Listen to it here!

Enjoy the movie!

Live at the Quidditch World Cup!

November 7th, 2010

Sometimes life just seems too weird and too amazing to be real. This weekend is one of those times as we’ll be playing a free show in NYC as part of the QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP!

Yes, that’s right! The Quidditch.freaking.World.Cup! This is basically the wizard equivalent of playing the Super Bowl half-time show. SO COOL!

So if you’re around NYC next Saturday night, we’ll be playing after all the matches conclude, probably sometime after 7pm. The show is free and it’s outdoors, so dress warm. Come early and enjoy some of the matches. There are over 60 teams competing! Holy cow!

Where: Dewitt Clinton Park at 52nd Street and 11th Avenue, New York City
When: Saturday, November 13th, 7pm

See ya there! Go Gryffindor!

New song on tribute/benefit comp!

November 3rd, 2010

Hey there!

We’ve got some really great things on tap in the coming months. A lot of compilation appearances coming up. We’ll have a new song on the forthcoming Jingle Spells 4 comp being produced by the Leaky Cauldron. We’ve also got 3 songs on the finally produced, soon-to-be-mailed, Live at LeakyCon compilation. That will have 3 lives tracks from us, including the definitive version of our song “Bacon” as well as triumphant versions of “Dumbledore” and “the Weapon.” Both of those comps benefit the HP Alliance and will be available soon, so I’ll post again when you can order them.

In the meantime, we’ve also got a brand new song on a compilation called “A New Hope: A Tribute to the Giant Squidstravaganza.” If you don’t know who the Giant Squidstravaganza is, we highly recommend checking him out. His “Death to Humans” album was one of my favorite things the Wizard Rock EP Club ever produced, so we’re happy to be on his new tribute album.

Our song is called “Hermione’s Favorite Food” which, yet again, indulges our love of wizard food, although in this case, it’s actually muggle food, which makes a lot of sense given Hermione’s upbringing. I really like our song, so here it is for you to listen to:

Hermione’s Favorite Food

Anyway, the entire compilation is really cool and has appearances from a lot of our favorite wizard bands. It’s now available on iTunes, so go and buy it already.

Joe’s weird presentation in Washington, DC tomorrow!

October 23rd, 2010

Ladies and gentlemen,

Tomorrow Joe will be appearing in Washington, DC as part of the National Science and Engineering Festival. The event takes place at THE MALL (14th Street and Pennsylvania Ave) and Joe will be on stage from 5:00-5:30pm.

He will be giving a presentation and doing some Q&A with an audience and the producers of PBS NOVA’s the Secret Lives of Scientists. He’ll be playing some songs about scientists, talking about science and being a wizard, and also be delivering a quick scientific presentation on the physics of multiple order rainbows. Oh my God! Oh my God!

You can see his previous videos with Secret Lives of Scientist Videos here (including a sweet video for our song ‘Felix Felicis’):
